ABOUT THE ROLE

The Dock Worker will play a critical role in the operation of the loading dock, supporting the efficient processing of goods, ensuring that products are accurately loaded and unloaded in a timely manner, and maintaining the safety and cleanliness of the dock environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accurately receive, inspect, and unload shipments, ensuring all goods are accounted for and meet quality standards.
• Assist in the accurate loading of trucks for outbound deliveries, ensuring efficient use of space and appropriate stacking of cargo.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the loading dock area, adhering to safety standards and protocols at all times.
• Operate forklifts and pallet jacks to facilitate the movement of goods safely and efficiently.
• Collaborate with the Dock Supervisor to ensure that workloads are balanced and that operations run smoothly throughout the shift.
• Perform regular maintenance and safety checks on equipment, reporting any malfunctions or safety hazards to the Dock Supervisor.
• Follow all safety regulations and company policies, ensuring a safe working environment for all dock personnel.
• Assist with inventory management, including stock rotation and reporting any discrepancies to management.
• Participate in training programs as assigned to enhance skills and knowledge relevant to the dock operations.

Requirements

Required Skills and Competencies:

• Ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and effectively.
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on safety and quality.
• Proficient in understanding and following written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to work collaboratively with team members and demonstrate effective communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in a warehouse or dock environment is advantageous.
• Completion of forklift operator training is preferred; certification may be required.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50-100 pounds.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and engage in physically demanding tasks.
• Capable of working in varying climate conditions and environments, including frequent exposure to temperatures and noises associated with dock operations.
